"Yes, I Can" — One Belt at a Time
Bozdag Taekwondo was founded in 1997 by Seyit Riza Bozdag, who began his Taekwondo career in Turkey — one of the most highly regarded countries for the sport — and competed successfully at international level. Nearly three decades later, the academy is a fixture of the Hackney community, training everyone from 5-year-old Little Tigers to national medallists.
Our purpose-built dojang on Kingsland Road has a 2,000 sq ft training area with Olympic-standard mats, private changing rooms, and open seating for parents and guests. Whether your goal is confidence, fitness, self-defence, or a place on our elite competition squads, every student trains with the same "Yes, I can" philosophy — and a clear belt path from white to black.
Bozdag Taekwondo is affiliated with British Taekwondo, GB Taekwondo, World Taekwondo, World Taekwondo Europe and UK Sport — the bodies that govern and support Olympic-style Taekwondo in the UK and worldwide.
- Friendly & FamilyA welcoming, family-run academy where parents watch from open seating and every student is known by name.
- Strong FoundationsDiscipline, respect, and self-control come first — from bowing into the dojang to a clean, pressed dobok.
- "Yes, I Can"Confidence is built, not born. Our teaching philosophy turns 'I can't' into 'Yes, I can' — on the mats and off them.
- Competition Pedigree61 medals across 11 UK competitions in a single year. Serious athletes have a clear pathway onto our elite squads.
